The household gathers together. If you have a candle, light a candle to signify God’s presence. Ask the Holy Spirit to join you during this time of prayer.

GREETING
We will give thanks to you, O LORD, with our whole heart;
we will tell of all your wonderful deeds.

HYMN – „Forward Through the Ages“ by Frederick L. Hosmer (1908)
sing along with a YouTube version – https://youtu.be/rs7tSpX5VNA

1. Forward through the ages,
In unbroken line,
Move the faithful spirits
At the call divine.
Gifts in diff’ring measure,
Hearts of one accord,
Manifold the service,
One the sure reward;

Refrain:
Forward through the ages,
In unbroken line,
Move the faithful spirits
At the call divine.

2. Wider grows the kingdom,
Reign of love and light;
For it we must labor,
Till our faith is sight.
Prophets have proclaimed it,
Martyrs testified,
Poets sung its glory,
Heroes for it died. [Refrain]

3. Not alone we conquer,
Not alone we fall;
In each loss or triumph
Lose or triumph all.
Bound by God’s far purpose
In one living whole,
Move we on together
To the shining goal! [Refrain]

OPENING PRAYER
O God of all things, big and small, we gather to worship you. We live in the midst of your great and abiding love. May we be found faithful in all we do. May we speak the truth in love and live lives of love each day. May we see your kingdom in the everyday, ordinary things of life: in mustard seeds, yeast, treasures in fields, and fish gathered in nets. Shine your light before us, that we may see our path to you and to your kingdom on earth. Amen.

PSALM 105:1-11, 45b

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH (read aloud)
We are not alone, we live in God’s world.
We believe in God:
who has created and is creating;
who has come in Jesus, the Word made flesh,
to reconcile and make new;
who works in us and others by the Spirit.
We trust in God.
We are called to be the church:
to celebrate God’s presence;
to live with respect in creation;
to love and serve others;
to seek justice and resist evil;
to proclaim Jesus, crucified and risen,
our judge and our hope.
In life, in death, in life beyond death,
God is with us.
We are not alone.
Thanks be to God. Amen.

PRAYERS OF THE PEOPLE
God of amazing surprises, how easy it is for us to focus on the big picture and forget that change comes in the smallest of ways, in our hearts, our spirits, and then in our actions. We have gathered here this day, coming from different experiences, to hear your word of healing love. We offer our prayers for our friends and family members who are in need of your healing and forgiveness. Yet we withhold ourselves from you. We have a hard time imagining that you would find much of real worth in each of us. We think of ourselves as insignificant in your kingdom. But you have poured your love on us. You have given us the seeds of hope and compassion; you have called us the treasure that is meant to enrich the world. Help us be those people who are so confident in your presence, that we dare to step out in faith, to work for you in places of need and strife; to witness to your love in all that we do, proclaiming your presence with our mouths and our actions. Give us your guidance, your forgiveness, and courage to be at work in your kingdom.

We also pray for (individual prayers)……

Gathering the prayers of our lips and the prayers of our hearts, we pray:
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever.  Amen.

BENEDICTION
May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, the love of God, and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with us always. Amen.
